Our goal is to get more students from migrant backgrounds completing high school and into higher education in Australia.
In the Nuba Mountains our programs are designed to ensure more children have access to early education; to increase reading and writing skills in the broader community, develop and increase digital literacy skills for school children and adults and finally to, increase the number of students attending and completing secondary education
This program is designed to teach the value of teamwork and empathy. They build cohesion, life skills like self-awareness, problem solving. It also creates a fun environment to connect with peers and share anecdotal experiences, stories and ideas. This is an important aspect of the healing process for migrants
Culture is an important aspect of individual and collective identity. Our program offers safe spaces for refugees and migrants to participate in various art forms like poetry and storytelling, dance, singing, music, drawing, painting and theater. We teach the youth to learn how to express their emotions in new and creative ways.
Skills learned such as decision-making, communication, self-awareness and problem solving empower the youth and enable them to have a voice.
We assist the youth to develop critical thinking through self advocacy, community advocacy and societal advocacy training. They gain leadership skills, interpersonal and digital skills to tackle some of the biggest issues affecting them. We bring together policy advocates, thought leaders, change makers, and some of the sharpest minds in today's world to tackle some of the most pressing issues affecting refugees and migrants. By sharing their experiences young people are able to bring to bear issues that matter to them.
